Environmental Protection
Environmental organizations and concerned individuals have several tools to protect an environmental resource. These tools include advocacy in the media, political advocacy and the legal system. Philip Shakhnis can assist in the effective utilization of each of these tools.
As a staff attorney with the Environmenal Law Foundation, Philip Shakhnis was involved in lawsuits protecting drinking water, endangered species and the California coastline. Mr. Shakhnis has also represented individuals seeking to enforce municipal stormwater protection ordinances and laws relating to lead-based paint hazards in residential housing.
Mr. Shakhnis has also recently participated with a team of attorneys who successfully obtained an injunction to stop the real estate development in the Playa Del Rey wetlands until a new environmental impact report is conducted.
